Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a cardiovascular-focused ICU setting, including management of post-cardiac surgery patients, pre/post cardiac catheterization and intervention, and valve replacement/repair cases
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, multi-system organ failure, and hemodynamic monitoring including Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, and Impella
• Manage advanced device support including LVAD/RVAD, CVVHD/CRRT, and ventilated patients including BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Administer and titrate IV medications including continuous sedation, neuromuscular blockade, cardiac drips, and vasoactive drips; manage IV access including arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and ports
• Perform CVA/Acute Stroke Management, lumbar drain care, ABG interpretation, suctioning (ETT/NT), phlebotomy, and surgical wound care including drains and wound vacs
• Float to sister ICU units as needed and adhere to infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE protocols

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of Cardiovascular ICU experience
• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license
• Current CPR, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Must pass an EKG test with a score of 80% or above prior to placement
• Demonstrated competency with CVICU skills checklist completed within the last year

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with CABG, thermoregulation protocols, and post-cardiac surgery patient management
• Familiarity with CVVHD/CRRT and advanced hemodynamic monitoring in a high-acuity ICU environment
• Experience floating across multiple ICU environments including medical and general critical care units
