Key Responsibilities
- Provide American Sign Language interpreting services for students enrolled in a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) program at the middle school level
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and hearing staff, teachers, and peers
- Support DHH students in accessing classroom instruction, school activities, and related services
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure an inclusive and accessible learning environment
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience or training in educational interpreting, particularly in a K–12 setting
- Ability to interpret accurately across academic subjects at the middle school level
- Knowledge of Deaf culture and the communication needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience working within a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) program
- Relevant interpreting certification (e.g., RID, NIC, or state-recognized equivalent)
- Experience working with middle school-aged students
