Key Responsibilities
- Accurately perform all echocardiogram studies ordered by physicians, including Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal, Exercise Stress, and Pharmacological Echocardiography
- Perform additional cardiac diagnostic studies including EKG, Holter prep, monitoring and analysis, and cardiac stress tests
- Operate mechanical devices such as echocardiographs, cardiac stress systems, electrocardiographs, and Holter monitors to provide optimal diagnostic information to cardiology physicians
- Accurately utilize hospital information systems for scheduling, processing, and charging of all studies
- Implement appropriate infection control practices and demonstrate working knowledge of aseptic techniques and equipment disinfection
- Provide preceptorship and clinical guidance to students and perform cardiac diagnostic tests following age-specific guidelines, including neonatal and pediatric patients
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential
- Successful completion of a certification program and/or a minimum of two years of hands-on echocardiography experience
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Certificate in Cardiovascular Sonography
- Extensive experience performing echocardiography studies in a hospital setting
- Extensive experience with both pediatric and neonatal echocardiography
