Contract | Nights | Option for 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30, no call) or 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30, with a minimum of one 12-hour call shift bi-weekly) | Every other weekend coverage required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to neonatal patients ranging from 22 weeks gestation and above, including those with diagnoses such as HIE, RDS, sepsis, abdominal wall defects, diaphragmatic hernia, drug exposure/withdrawal, and related complex conditions
- Perform and assist with specialized procedures including full body cooling, chest tube management, tracheostomy management, and Avastin administration
- Operate and monitor specialized NICU equipment including Jet Ventilator, HFOV, Draeger Ventilator, HFNC, Bubble CPAP, Arctic Sun, Alaris pumps, and dual incubators
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly using EPIC EMR
- Administer medications and manage supplies using Pyxis/Omnicell unit systems
- Float to other NICU units or facilities as needed based on census demands, performing only tasks within demonstrated and documented competencies
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
- Current BLS certification
- Current NRP certification
- Current S.T.A.B.L.E. certification
- Minimum of 2 years of recent NICU experience
- Minimum of 1 year of EPIC EMR experience
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with high-acuity neonatal diagnoses including myelomeningocele, TEF, duodenal atresia, and ROP
- Familiarity with external shunt management and ostomy care in the neonatal population
- Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment)
