Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-volume Emergency Department managing a diverse patient population including trauma, stroke, DKA, sepsis, and complex cardiac conditions
- Perform and assist with procedures including laceration repair, orthopedic trauma care, ultrasound-guided IV insertion, IO insertion, EKG, eye exams, and cardiopulmonary and psychiatric care
- Operate department equipment including ultrasound for IV access, Lucas Device, Hotline Rapid Infuser, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
- Follow protocol-based written orders to initiate complete patient workups including labs, EKG, imaging, and medications based on chief complaint
- Maintain a patient ratio of 4:1 with flexibility during acute surge periods, including potential coverage of hallway beds and a secure psychiatric annex area
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team including charge RNs, ED Techs, and resource personnel across assigned shifts
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license required at time of submission
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience in a hospital setting
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and clinical peers
- Demonstrated dependability, punctuality, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience / Skills
- MOAB certification is a plus
- Strong proficiency in EKG interpretation
- Familiarity with Sunrise/Allscripts EMR system
- Experience caring for complex cardiac, trauma, or psychiatric patient populations
