Contract | 12-Hour Night Shifts | 36 or 48 Hours Per Week Accepted | 13–26 Week Assignment | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit managing diagnoses including diabetes, COPD, sepsis, pneumonia, GI bleed, anemia, encephalopathy, hip fracture, and COVID-19
- Perform and manage clinical skills including IV therapy, blood product administration, central and PICC line care, phlebotomy, wound care, colostomy care, and feeding tube management
- Monitor patients using remote telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and utilize Rapid Response Team protocols as needed
- Manage respiratory support modalities including CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and oral suctioning
- Adhere to isolation precautions, including care within a designated COVID isolation area
- Float to other units within or near the facility as required based on unit needs; participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events or disasters
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact RN license
- Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Proficiency in Medical/Surgical nursing and remote telemetry monitoring
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Availability for full hospital orientation during week one, including all scheduled classes
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with on-unit telemetry monitoring, port access, tracheostomy management, surgical drains, and ABG interpretation
- Background in CVA patient care and insulin management
- Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records
- Experience managing dysrhythmias in a step-down or telemetry setting
