Key Responsibilities
- Scrub and assist in complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgical cases including AAA repairs, valve replacements, CABG, bypass, angioplasty, and stent procedures
- Support open and endovascular cases within the Cardiac Operating Room (CVOR), including positioning, prepping, and facilitating endovascular equipment
- Assist in Main OR surgical procedures spanning General, Trauma, Orthopedics, Urology, GYN, Plastics, Neurosurgery, and Robotic (XI) cases as needed
- Adhere to a scheduling rotation that includes every other weekend and holidays in rotation with permanent hospital staff
- Fulfill on-call requirements: CVOR — 8–10 call shifts (12-hour Monday–Friday, 24-hour Saturday and Sunday) per 4-week cycle; Main OR — 3 call shifts (12-hour) per 4-week cycle
- Document and communicate patient care activities using the Meditech documentation system and follow AIDET patient experience standards
Required Qualifications
- Active CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of surgical technologist experience
- Cardiac surgical experience required (CVOR experience essential)
- Demonstrated ability to scrub complex open thoracic and cardiovascular cases including AAA, valve replacement, and CABG
- Proficiency with endovascular equipment and procedures including bypass, angioplasty, and stents
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with robotic surgical platforms (XI Robot, Mako joint robot) and advanced spine equipment
- Familiarity with Meditech electronic documentation system
- Background scrubbing in a high-volume, multi-specialty OR environment including Ortho, Neuro, Plastics, and Vascular
