Contract | Travel | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 13-Week Assignment | Onsite | Weekend shifts required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Neuro Stepdown unit managing a 4:1 patient ratio, with potential to support the Acute Care side at a 6:1 ratio
- Operate and monitor advanced equipment including Vapotherm, BiPAP, tracheostomies, and titrating cardiac drips on the Neuro Stepdown side; high-flow oxygen, chest tubes, suction, and various drips on the Acute Care side
- Assist with or support procedures commonly performed on the unit, including lumbar punctures and chest tube placement
- Document all patient care activities accurately using the Meditech electronic documentation system
- Conduct bedside shift reports, participate in daily huddles, and maintain personal connection standards in alignment with patient experience requirements
- Float to other areas of the unit following orientation, as applicable per floating policy
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Tennessee or compact state eligibility
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with strong Acute Care nursing skills and time management
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification required for Neuro Stepdown assignment
- Stepdown experience strongly required for the Neuro Stepdown role
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to manage complex neurological and cardiac patients
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience with stroke care protocols and neurological patient populations
- Familiarity with Meditech electronic health record documentation system
- Experience with tracheostomy care and management of patients on BiPAP or Vapotherm
