Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members in the care of Emergency Department patients.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies, procedures, standards of care, and state practice acts.
• Perform patient assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care; develop and execute individualized patient plans of care including patient and family instruction.
• Document care accurately and in accordance with established standards.
• Apply critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience, escalating concerns through the appropriate chain of command.
• Participate in department performance improvement activities, unit practice decisions, and peer review processes.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required at time of submission.
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required at time of submission.
• Current TNCC or TNS certification required at time of submission.
• Prior experience working in an Emergency Department at a Level 1 Trauma Center.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; education verification is required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with float assignments across multiple emergency department locations.
• Familiarity with shared governance models and participation in unit-based practice councils.
