Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing across multiple disciplines including hematology, chemistry, special chemistry, serology, blood bank, microbiology, and urinalysis, analyzing and interpreting results with considerable judgment.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis; perform scheduled maintenance and monitor consumables as assigned.
- Establish and monitor quality assurance programs and activities to ensure the accuracy and integrity of laboratory results.
- Perform specimen collection on patients of all age groups, including venipuncture, capillary draws, and culturing sites; instruct nursing staff on correct sample collection methods.
- Enter data from medical test analysis and clinical results into laboratory information systems for accurate storage and transmission.
- Provide technical information about test results to physicians and clinical staff as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Active Washington State MA-P (Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist) License required.
- Active Phlebotomist License required.
- Demonstrated competency in laboratory procedures across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, and urinalysis.
- Ability to operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and perform both quantitative and qualitative analyses.
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems for data entry, calculation, and result transmission.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience performing blood typing, crossmatching, and compatibility testing for transfusion purposes.
- Familiarity with identifying abnormalities in biological samples such as malignancies, bacteria, parasites, or genetic irregularities.
- Experience working in a hospital or clinic laboratory setting serving patients across all age groups.
