Contract | 16 Weeks | Nights (3x12 Hours, 19:00–07:30) | Onsite | Guaranteed 36 Hours per Week
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care on a high-acuity GI/GU medical surgical unit managing diagnoses including ostomy, colon resection, colon cancer, bladder cancer, and GU conditions
- Perform and manage IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
- Administer blood products and manage drips including Heparin, Lidocaine (pain), Bicarb, Amiodarone (stable, non-titrated), and Bivalrudin; manage PCAs, epidurals, and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
- Provide colostomy care, feeding tube care and management, and support for colorectal and post-surgical protocols including TURPs and foleys
- Monitor and interpret telemetry remotely; manage and respond to dysrhythmias
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation using Epic; collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (Missouri or compact license required; pending Missouri license acceptable at time of submittal)
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience; first-time travelers not accepted
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (ACLS must be obtained by compliance deadline)
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health records
- Demonstrated IV skills, phlebotomy, and telemetry monitoring experience
- Must pass Relias EKG exam; interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), TURP protocols, and colorectal patient care pathways
- Familiarity with centralized telemetry monitoring and basic dysrhythmia interpretation
- Prior experience in a high-volume, high-turnover surgical patient environment
