Surgical Technologist – Operating Room (Days)

Key Responsibilities
- Assist during surgical procedures by maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field and providing instrumentation to the surgical team as needed.
- Monitor the sterile field for contamination events and initiate or communicate corrective action under supervision.
- Ensure the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that operative procedures are conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
- Participate fully in the Time Out Process, including Briefings and Debriefings, and model effective, timely communication with the perioperative team.
- Assist the team with patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation; clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Work toward competency or demonstrate competency with Tier 1 surgical cases while maintaining flexibility in the ongoing delivery of individualized patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or Licensed Surgical Technologist program.
- Active Surgical Technologist license in the state of Colorado required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Working knowledge of AORN standards and sterile/aseptic technique.
- Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.
- Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements, access online forms and policies, and complete online benefits enrollment.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working with all age populations, including neonatal/infant through geriatric patients.
- Familiarity with current surgical technologies, instrumentation, and equipment, with a commitment to maintaining currency in new procedures.
