Contract | Night Shift | Option 1: 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30), no call requirement | Option 2: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30) with a minimum of one 12-hour call shift bi-weekly | Every other weekend coverage required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to NICU patients ranging from 22 weeks gestation and above, including those with diagnoses such as HIE, RDS, sepsis, diaphragmatic hernia, abdominal wall defects, TEF, duodenal atresia, myelomeningocele, drug exposure/withdrawal, hypoglycemia, urethral stenosis, and ROP
- Perform and assist with specialized procedures including full body cooling, chest tube management, tracheostomy management, Avastin administration, laser eye surgery support, and surgical repair of anomalies (excluding cardiac)
- Operate specialized equipment including Arctic Sun, Blanketroll, Jet Ventilator, HFOV, Draeger Ventilator, HFNC, Bubble CPAP, Alaris, Philips Central, B Braun and Infinity feeding pumps, Atom and GE Dual Incubators, Draeger Caleos, radiant warmers, external shunts, and ostomy supplies
- Document all patient care accurately using EPIC EMR
- Float to other NICU units or facilities as needed based on census demands, performing only tasks within demonstrated and documented competencies
- Complete all required pre-assignment modules and annual compliance requirements within designated timeframes
Required Qualifications
- Active South Carolina RN license required
- BLS, NRP, and S.T.A.B.L.E. certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required; NICU Level II and Level III experience required
- Minimum 1 year of recent EPIC EMR experience required
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment
- Must reside more than 100 miles from all system facilities to be eligible at full rate; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles from the contracted campus may be considered at a reduced rate; candidates residing under 50 miles from the contracted campus are ineligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Familiarity with Pyxis or Omnicell medication dispensing systems
- Experience with advanced ventilator management including HFOV, Jet Ventilator, and Bubble CPAP
- Experience caring for surgical neonates and patients requiring full body cooling protocols
