Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts | 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and communicate effectively within an inter-professional team
• Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and feeding pumps
• Utilize Epic EHR for documentation and Pyxis machines for medication management
• Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and minor surgeries
• Float to other medical units as needed; maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6

Required Qualifications

• Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license required
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience at a large hospital (450+ beds)
• Locals are welcome; candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are eligible with an adjusted rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records
• Experience managing telemetry monitoring and VTE prevention protocols
• Familiarity with hospira IV pumps, AccuCheck blood glucose monitoring, and heating/cooling pad equipment
• Experience caring for patients with complex, multi-system diagnoses in a high-acuity environment
