Key Responsibilities

  • Perform physical therapy evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans for patients across a wide range of ages and diagnoses in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Implement, supervise, and modify plans of care based on ongoing assessment of patient response to optimize outcomes
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, referring providers, and care conference participants to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
  • Develop and deliver patient and family education programs, including clear home exercise programs with return demonstration to ensure comprehension
  • Direct and oversee the work of Physical Therapist Assistants, support staff, students, and interns
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, assist with DME acquisition and fitting, and adhere to billing and regulatory requirements including Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payers

Required Qualifications

  • Entry-level qualifying master's or doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program; OR graduate from an APTA-approved program at the master's or bachelor's level with 2 years of proven work and continuing education experience demonstrating mastery of doctoral-level knowledge
  • Active Physical Therapist license — State of Alaska (Alaska State Board of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy) required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver's License required
  • Clinical Competency and High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years thereafter

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Broad-based clinical experience across multiple practice settings
  • Proficiency with adaptive devices including splints, braces, orthoses, seating equipment, durable medical equipment, and ADL assistive devices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex clinical information for patients, families, and non-clinical staff
  • Proficiency with health information technology, electronic health records, and multiple software applications
