Contract | 13 Weeks | Days (0700–1930) | 3x12-hour shifts | Expected 36 hours/week | Every Other Weekend / Every Other Holiday

Key Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and observation-level nursing care for admitted emergency department patients awaiting bed placement within the hospital
• Manage a diverse patient population of high acuity in a Level I Trauma, Comprehensive Cardiac, and Comprehensive Stroke Center environment
• Administer medications and perform cardiac monitoring, including arrhythmia recognition and telemetry management
• Receive and manage assignments given in 4-hour blocks based on census and acuity needs
• Demonstrate proficiency in EPIC EHR — additional EPIC training is not provided; candidates must pass the EPIC skills exam
• Complete required specialty skills exams (Med Administration, Arrhythmia/Tele, and Step Down Challenge Exam if applicable) — exams are one-time pass/fail

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN required — ASN/ADN candidates with relevant experience may be considered
• Current Connecticut RN license required prior to start date
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association required prior to start date
• ACLS certification required prior to start date
• Arrhythmia certification required prior to start date
• Minimum 2+ years of recent Level I Trauma experience (800+ bed facility) required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• 3+ years of recent medical-surgical, stepdown, float pool, or comparable acute care experience
• Experience in a high-volume, high-acuity emergency department setting
• Demonstrated flexibility and ability to function effectively within a team-based environment
• Prior experience with inpatient and observation patient classification and care
