Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday for nights) | Holiday requirement varies

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 56-bed Adult Medical Specialty Unit managing acute general medicine diagnoses including cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes, acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, and behavioral health and addiction cases
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 during day/evening hours and 1:5–6 during overnight hours, with PCT support for vitals, accuchecks, bladder scans, and ADLs
• Manage and monitor central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes as part of routine patient care
• Administer and monitor set-rate drips including Heparin and Lasix; titration of drips is not required
• Utilize house-wide telemetry monitoring (Philips monitors); view and interpret telemetry strips via bedside pack or computer as needed
• Float as needed to other acute care general medicine areas including nephrology, neuro, ortho, and oncology

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Hands-on experience with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes
• Candidates must comply with a drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the standard contract rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Epic EMR strongly preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience on a Med/Surg floor preferred
• Experience in a Level I Trauma Center may be considered in lieu of travel experience, provided Epic experience is present
• Familiarity with BiPAP/CPAP, inhaler administration, and suctioning in a respiratory therapy support context
