Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Options for 36 or 48 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical Trauma unit receiving patients from the ED, OR, and ICU, including geriatric trauma, abuse/violence victims, MVA, falls, and acute care surgery cases such as appendicitis, hernia repairs, burns, and TBI
- Perform and manage clinical skills including blood product administration, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, IV starts, insulin administration, PCA management, and wound care/wound vac
- Care for patients with complex diagnoses including spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacements
- Manage respiratory support modalities including CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and oral suctioning
- Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias; must pass required EKG competency exam prior to start
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), surgical drains, wound vacs, traction, external fixators, lifts, and restraints; float within service line as needed to meet facility needs
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (MO or compact license required; pending MO license submissions may be considered)
- Minimum 5 years of nursing experience required
- BCLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must pass EKG interpretation/dysrhythmia management competency exam
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Every-other-weekend availability required
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a Magnet-designated or Level I Trauma Center environment
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
- Experience with isolation precautions and complex wound management
- Familiarity with geriatric trauma populations
