Travel Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13-week assignment (extension to 26 weeks may be available) | Days | Wednesday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 7 on/7 off, 10-hour shifts | Every other weekend required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance, quality control, calibrations on analyzers, and patient testing including both waived and non-waived tests
• Process specimens including ordering tests, centrifuging, preparing send-outs for transport, stocking lab supplies, and routine cleaning of lab surfaces
• Operate Point of Care Testing instrumentation and support FSED laboratory operations
• Adhere to standard laboratory safety protocols as required by CLIA and CAP
• Communicate and collaborate professionally with both lab and clinical ED staff
• Perform clerical duties as assigned by Nursing and Lab Director in support of FSED operations

Required Qualifications

• Full MLS certification through ASCP or equivalent (MLS, CLS, or MT) — full licensure required; associate-level credentials are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of experience working in a hospital laboratory environment as an MLT or MLS
• Ability to work independently while interfacing professionally with clinical emergency department staff
• Compliance with all applicable CLIA and CAP laboratory safety standards

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with EPIC EMR
• Familiarity with any of the following analyzers: Siemens Dimension EXL, Sysmex 1000, Roche Cliniteck, Werfen Top 300, Quidel Triage, Siemens ePOC, Abbott iSTAT, Veritor FLU, Quidel SOFIA COVID-19, or Aerospray stainer
