Travel RN – Cardiac Step-Down (IMC/PCU)

Contract | 13 Weeks | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct bedside nursing care on a 40-bed cardiac step-down unit for patients with conditions including CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post-procedure cardiac patients (cath/stent, pacer/ICD/ablation)
• Manage and titrate cardiac IV medications including nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, and diuretics
• Monitor patients via telemetry and operate unit equipment including Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, and bladder scanners
• Document patient care accurately using Cerner EMR
• Assist with or perform bedside cardioversion as needed
• Float to MedSurg units, other step-down units, COVID unit, and ER holding as required

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in North Carolina (or compact eligibility)
• Minimum 2 years of step-down, progressive care, or PCU experience
• Telemetry experience required
• Experience with titratable cardiac IV medications required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Must maintain a patient ratio of 1:4 (stretch to 1:5)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with prostacyclins such as Flolan, Veletri, or Remodulin
• Relief charge nurse experience
• Flexible, positive, team-oriented, and compassionate approach to patient care
