Travel RN – Charge Nurse, Emergency Room (Night Shift)

Asheville, NC | Acute Care – Emergency Department

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Every other weekend required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide charge nurse-level leadership and direct patient care in a high-volume Emergency Department with up to 101 beds
• Maintain patient ratios of approximately 4:1 for medical patients, with flexibility up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
• Coach and provide real-time feedback to nursing staff while maintaining a teamwork-oriented environment
• Utilize Cerner for all clinical documentation and maintain accurate patient boards throughout each visit
• Adhere to patient experience standards including AIDET, respectful behavior practices, and consistent patient communication
• Float to all sections within the Emergency Department as needed; no floating outside of the ED

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in an Emergency Room setting
• ACLS required prior to start date
• BLS required prior to start date
• PALS required prior to start date
• TNCC required prior to start date
• CPI required prior to start date
• NIHSS required prior to start date
• ENPC required within 90 days of hire
• Ability to work every other weekend; scheduling must meet departmental needs and block scheduling cannot be accommodated

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ annual visits)
• Familiarity with Baxter pumps and GE monitoring equipment
• Previous experience in a large health system environment
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural community
