Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a cardiovascular-focused ICU setting, managing complex conditions including multi-system organ failure, thermoregulation, and post-cardiac surgery patients
• Operate and monitor advanced cardiac support devices including Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Impella, LVAD/RVAD, and Pulmonary Artery/Swan-Ganz lines
• Manage IV therapy including arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, port access, and blood product administration; titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Administer and monitor continuous IV sedation, paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, emergency medications, and procedural sedation
• Support respiratory management including ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP assistance, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT/NT)
• May float to sister ICU campuses (MICU or other ICU units) as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN License
• CPR certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 3 years of CV ICU experience
• Must achieve a passing score of 80% or above on an EKG test as part of the submission process
• Proficiency with Epic EMR

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Charge nurse experience (please indicate if applicable)
• Experience with CVVHD/CRRT
• Experience with CVA/Acute Stroke Management and lumbar drains
• Familiarity with CABG, valve replacement/repair, and pre/post cardiac cath/intervention care
