Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nephrology nursing care for a 21-bed unit with mostly private rooms and overhead lift equipment.
- Conduct bedside reports, patient rounding, and monitor 1:4 to 1:6 patient ratios during night shifts.
- Administer treatments, manage dialysis patients, and support post-operative renal transplant care.
- Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure quality patient care.
- Assist with activities such as vital signs, patient baths, Foley catheter management, and medication administration, including inhalers and respiratory therapies.
- Maintain accurate documentation and monitor telemetry (via Philips monitors) with support from teletech staff, without needing to interpret strips.
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or proof of application process.
- BLS certification.
- Experience in general medical-surgical or nephrology settings.
- Ability to work night shifts and flexibly with scheduling.
- Knowledge of dialysis, ESRD, AKI, transplant procedures, and related diagnoses is preferred.
- Must provide last four digits of SSN, middle initial, and requested time off during application.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Nephrology or urology background preferred.
- Positive attitude, teamwork, dependability, and adaptability.
- Experience with patient care involving dialysis, transplant, and complex medical conditions.
