Schedule / Job Type

• Rotating shifts, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours per shift

Key Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and packaging of surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with established protocols.
• Completely disassemble instruments to remove debris and bioburdens prior to sterilization or high-level disinfection.
• Operate and validate sterilization processes, including autoclaving, while maintaining detailed records of all procedures and monitoring results.
• Support decontamination, sterilization, and packaging needs for other service areas as workload permits.
• Communicate effectively with staff and providers to troubleshoot instrument shortages and recommend suitable alternatives.
• Maintain equipment functionality, report and coordinate maintenance or repairs, and ensure all sterilization parameters are met through quality assurance measures.
• Participate in ongoing training to maintain competency in sterilization procedures and assist in training team members.
• Perform supply handling duties, including inventory checks and product stocking, as time permits.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Certification in Sterile Processing and/or Technology through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HPSA).
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Willingness to receive the flu vaccine.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• One year of experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
• Knowledge of infection control practices, surgical instrumentation, and sterile techniques.
• Strong communication, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
• Computer proficiency and ability to manage records accurately.
