Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit, including vent management, neuro assessments, and cranial drain management
• Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias; manage arrhythmias and complex neurological patients
• Administer medications including blood products and perform invasive procedures such as IV starts, central line care, and external ventricular drain management
• Use advanced equipment such as ICP monitors, EVDs, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun for patient stability and recovery
• Maintain strict isolation and PPE protocols; ensure safety and compliance in a high-acuity environment
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans for stroke, neurosurgery, and other critical neurological conditions

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, specifically in Neuro Critical Care
• Experience with ventilated patient management and neuro-specific procedures
• Valid current NC or compact license in good standing
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS or equivalent neuro emergency certification
• Ability to pass EKG testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with arterial line management and advanced neuro procedures
• Prior travel nursing experience in ICU settings, especially critical care units
• Familiarity with Epic Electronic Medical Records and unit-specific systems

Additional Details

• 36-hour shifts, schedule: 18:45 - 07:15, night shifts only
• Unit accepts float staff across related units as needed
• RTO requests up to 7 days can be auto-approved if within policy guidelines
• No call requirements; every other weekend working
• Candidate must be comfortable floating and working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Must complete orientation and pre-employment testing within 48 hours of onboarding
• Travel compliance and documentation required prior to start
