Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments, develop care plans, and maintain inter-professional communication across general medical and surgical units.
• Utilize Epic electronic health record system for all clinical documentation and charting.
• Manage IV therapy including IV pumps, heparin drips, and insulin drips; operate wound vacs, feeding pumps, feeding tubes, and chest tubes.
• Care for a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, CHF, diabetes, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders.
• Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries.
• Float to other medical units within the facility as needed to meet staffing demands.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care experience required.
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical experience at a large hospital (600+ beds) required.
• Active Indiana state RN license or compact RN license required.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Familiarity with equipment such as Pyxis medication dispensing systems, Accucheck blood glucose monitors, Hospira IV pumps, and telemetry monitoring.
• Experience managing patients with complex, multi-system diagnoses in a high-acuity medical surgical environment.
