Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct ICU-level nursing care to a diverse patient population including neurosurgical, post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis/MODS, and cardiac patients
• Manage ventilators, IV drip titration, and continuous telemetry monitoring
• Perform dysrhythmia recognition and emergency management, including conscious sedation
• Care for patients with external ventricular drains (EVD) and post-neurosurgical needs
• Float as needed to Stepdown Unit, ED, or Med-Surg to care for ICU-level patients being held in those units
• Complete required pre-start orientation modules and pass facility EKG competency testing prior to start date

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license or valid Compact RN license in hand at time of submission — no exceptions
• BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required
• NIHSS certification required
• Strong neurological nursing experience required, including post-neurosurgical care, EVD management, and stroke care
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records — no exceptions
• Must pass facility EKG competency test with a score of 80% or higher (one attempt; no remediation available)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 3 years of critical care experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience will be considered
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
