Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU / Transitional Surgical Unit)

Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 3 x 12-hour shifts per week | 36 hours per week | 12-week assignment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Transitional Surgical Unit managing common diagnoses including hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes, seizures, brain tumors, and CNS infections
- Maintain a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio across a unit of 6–10 beds
- Perform and assist with special procedures including lumbar punctures and management of lumbar drains and external ventricular devices
- Document all patient care accurately using Cerner EMR
- Adhere to shift handoff protocols, ensuring timely and thorough communication of outstanding tasks and patient status to oncoming staff
- Fulfill every-other-holiday and every-third-weekend scheduling requirements; no block scheduling
Required Qualifications
- Active Delaware RN license or valid Compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a PCU, IMC, or stepdown specialty — no exceptions
- Recent hands-on EPIC experience required
- Current relevant certifications (must be provided with submission)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with neurological patient populations including stroke and seizure management
- Familiarity with lumbar drain and external ventricular device management
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR in addition to EPIC
