Respiratory Therapist – Neuro/Respiratory Diagnostics (ECMO Specialist)

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12 Hours) | Onsite | Every other weekend required; weekend schedule subject to change based on need
Key Responsibilities
- Float between CVICU and PICU units, providing ECMO device management for both pediatric and adult patient populations
- Manage ECMO devices during bedside ECMO cannulation and/or cannula repositioning procedures
- Operate specialized equipment including Cardiohelp ECMO console, Centrimag ECMO console, Cardio Quip heater-cooler unit, and glucometer (point-of-care testing)
- Follow established ECMO order sets and provider team direction while working alongside ICU RNs and RTs
- Care for patients with diagnoses including post cardiac surgery, cardiogenic shock, traumatic injury, ARDS/respiratory failure, and other critical acute illnesses requiring ECMO support
Required Qualifications
- Active SC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
- ECMO Specialist experience required, including completion of an ECMO specialty device course and required CMEs to maintain proficiency
- Both pediatric and adult ICU experience required
- Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience managing patients on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in a CVICU or PICU setting
- Familiarity with critical care management of cardiac surgery, sepsis, shock, and trauma-related illness
