Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on an intermediate cardiac/stepdown unit managing diagnoses including Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valvular disorders, cardiomyopathy, and peripheral vascular conditions
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and oversee cardiac drip administration including titration
- Perform and assist with sheath management and removal, femoral sheath care, TR band, and Fem-stop procedures
- Care for post-procedural patients following cardiac catheterization, DCCV, electrophysiology procedures, pacemaker placements, CABG, TAVR, VATS, and vascular surgeries
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including arterial lines, chest tubes, epicardial pacing wires, Doppler, bladder scanner, and EKG
- Maintain accurate documentation and communication using EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR; adhere to unit float rotation and weekend requirements (4 shifts per 4-week period)
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state
- Minimum 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required
- Travel nursing experience required unless candidate holds more than 24 months of cardiac experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required
- Demonstrated proficiency in cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown care, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, post-MI care, pre/post cardiac cath care, non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula), and chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with arterial line management
- Wound care and wound vac experience
- Charge nurse experience
