Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a combined adult and pediatric emergency department with a census of approximately 120 patients and a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Perform triage, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency medication administration including IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation
• Manage IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, and blood product administration
• Care for neurological, orthopedic, trauma, psychiatric, and pediatric emergency cases including CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury, acute psychosis, and multi-system organ dysfunction
• Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs, manage ventilated patients, assist with chest tube insertion and management, and support intubation procedures
• Float within scope as needed to meet facility staffing requirements

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of emergency department nursing experience required
• Experience in a general emergency department (combined adult/pediatric) and Level II Trauma Center setting required
• Active Illinois RN license in hand at time of submission (or ETA accepted per posting guidelines)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, PALS, and TNCC (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI cards not accepted)
• Proficiency in isolation precautions, triage, telemetry interpretation, and ventilator management
• Must be available to work weekends as needed and work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Cerner electronic health records system
• Previous charge nurse experience
