Key Responsibilities
- Perform and document comprehensive patient assessments, incorporating culture, age, developmental level, and risk factors, in accordance with RN scope of practice and applicable policies.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care using the nursing process, collaborating with patients, families, and the inter-professional team to determine and achieve desired outcomes.
- Administer patient care therapies and procedures with clinical autonomy; recognize, respond to, and communicate changes in patient condition in a timely manner.
- Delegate tasks appropriately to team members and monitor the accuracy and completeness of delegated care activities.
- Provide patient and family education addressing prioritized needs, and facilitate the discharge process including discharge teaching and coordination with case management.
- Actively participate in unit-based quality improvement activities including patient satisfaction, fall prevention, pressure ulcer prevention, CAUTI reduction, and documentation auditing.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across care team disciplines.
- Ability to assess age-specific patient safety needs and implement appropriate safety measures.
- Proficiency with or ability to be trained on applicable computer systems and clinical applications.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous nursing experience in an ICU or acute care setting.
- Strong neurological nursing experience highly preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
