Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Medical Oncology)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity nursing care on a Medical Oncology PCU/Telemetry unit with up to 36 beds, the majority dedicated to PCU-level care
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias, responding appropriately and utilizing rapid response teams as needed
• Manage central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, PCA pumps, heparin protocols, and cardiac drips; perform blood product administration and port access
• Provide respiratory support including High Flow Nasal Cannula, external CPAP/BiPAP, tracheostomy management, chest tube care, and ABG interpretation
• Maintain strict infection prevention protocols and implement patient fall prevention measures
• Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as required by departmental staffing needs

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license (compact or state license required at time of submission)
• Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Current BLS (BCLS), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications
• Demonstrated high-acuity PCU patient care experience
• Proficiency with telemetry monitoring, IV therapy, feeding tube care, and advanced clinical skills listed above
• Ability to manage cardiac drips and titrate cardiac drips as required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• Previous travel nursing experience
• Skills in arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols, phlebotomy, and surgical drain management
• Experience with non-invasive airway management and dysrhythmia management
