Key Responsibilities

  • Collect comprehensive patient data, analyze assessment findings, and formulate nursing diagnoses to guide individualized plans of care.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate patient-centered care plans that identify expected outcomes and prescribe appropriate strategies.
  • Employ evidence-based strategies to promote patient health, safety, and a therapeutic environment.
  • Float to Mother Baby unit and manage couplet care as needed; float to other units as a safety companion when required.
  • Circulate in the Labor and Delivery setting and collaborate with the interdisciplinary health care team to deliver coordinated patient and family care.
  • Contribute to professional development of peers, integrate research findings into practice, and provide leadership within the nursing practice setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Montana Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider certification (recertification required every 2 years).
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring Series Certificate of Completion or equivalent AWHONN-approved course (FHM recertification required every 2 years; not required for Lactation RN role).
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (not required for Lactation RN role).
  • Minimum of two hours of initial cerebrovascular disease (stroke) education; if serving as a Lactation RN, certification in lactation consulting or counseling (CLC or IBCLC) is required in lieu of select certifications above.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • One or more years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice modified primary nursing with competence and willingness to adapt to varied patient care needs.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
