Contract | Night Shift | 5x8 Hours | Variable Shifts (primarily 19:00–03:30 and 21:30–06:00) | On-Call Required
Key Responsibilities
- Perform sterile processing functions largely independently, including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instrumentation
- Operate and maintain specialized sterilization and processing equipment including autoclaves, washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and low-temperature sterilization systems
- Occasionally serve in a shift lead or precepting capacity to support department operations as needed
- Float between the main operating room and an outpatient surgery center as required by departmental needs
- Fulfill on-call obligations per department schedule, including weekday, weekend, and holiday call shifts
- Adhere to variable scheduling requirements to accommodate unit needs, including weekend assignments that may exceed every other weekend
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of sterile processing experience, with at least 3 years in a shift lead, precepting, or team lead role within a hospital setting
- Active CBSPD or HSPA certification required
- Current BLS certification required
- Valid California license or certification in hand prior to start
- Prior travel contract experience required — first-time travelers will not be considered
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills; ability to work independently
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Hands-on experience with Da Vinci Xi robotic instrumentation processing
- Proficiency with Getinge autoclaves and 86 series washers, Amsco autoclaves, Steris V-Pro and System 1e, and Triton 72 ultrasonic cleaners
- Familiarity with Epic charting systems
- Experience working in an acute care hospital environment
