Contract | Nights | 5x8-hour shifts (10:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Monday–Friday with 1 weekend per month required | On-call required approximately 1 time per week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care across multiple surgical service lines in a 23-room OR suite, excluding cardiovascular services
• Perform scrub and/or circulating duties for general surgery, orthopedic, neurological, urological, plastic surgery, trauma, bariatric, and transplant cases
• Respond to emergent situations including code response, malignant hyperthermia, and fire safety events
• Administer blood products, manage specimen handling and labeling, and ensure adherence to Universal Protocol (Time Out) procedures
• Operate and manage surgical equipment including electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tables
• Maintain infection control standards, radiation safety protocols, and urinary bladder catheterization procedures

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room RN experience; first-time travelers not accepted
• Active Illinois RN license in hand or actively in the application process at time of submission
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI cards not accepted)
• Level I Trauma experience required
• Experience with General OR and Trauma cases required, including but not limited to: appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, craniotomy, lumbar/cervical fusion, amputations, and MVA multiple-injury cases
• Candidate must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Cerner electronic health record system
• Familiarity with free flap microvascular and organ donation procedures
• Experience with bariatric laparoscopic-assisted cases
