Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients, including those with diagnoses such as CAD status post CABG, cardiac valve repair, lung cancer status post VATS, and esophageal cancer
- Monitor and manage patients recovering from post-surgical cardiovascular procedures
- Administer and titrate cardiac drips and insulin drips as ordered
- Interpret EKG rhythms and respond appropriately to cardiac changes
- Utilize the Omnicell medication system for safe medication administration
- Float to other units and campuses as needed based on census, performing only tasks within demonstrated and documented competencies
Required Qualifications
- Active South Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in a cardiac stepdown or similar unit (first-time travelers must have a minimum of 3 years of specialty experience)
- Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience
- Must pass a pre-assignment EKG exam prior to start
- Experience with cardiac drips and insulin drips required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 2 or more years of overall nursing experience in the field
- Experience caring for post-surgical cardiovascular patients
- Familiarity with Omnicell medication management systems
