Key Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally relevant, evidence-based outpatient behavioral health services including individual, group, family, and marital therapy, as well as bio-psychosocial assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and care coordination.
  • Develop and review individualized treatment plans based on client needs, integrating mental health and substance use disorder interventions as appropriate.
  • Utilize Trauma Informed Care principles across all patient, employee, and community interactions.
  • Provide crisis intervention services during normal clinic hours and participate in a shared rotating after-hours crisis and emergency services schedule at rural clinic locations.
  • Maintain complete, timely, and accurate documentation of all services within the electronic health record, including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, screening tools, and discharge plans.
  • Communicate and collaborate with clinical and paraprofessional team members across the health system to achieve individualized treatment goals and ensure appropriate referrals.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver's License, or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • Experience with behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, and the ability to provide treatment planning and referrals for patients of all ages.
  • Knowledge of federal and state mandatory reporting requirements and applicable regulations including HIPAA, CARF, The Joint Commission, and state Medicaid guidelines.
  • Ability to assess patients for suicide or self-harm risk and develop effective safety plans.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Active licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); unlicensed candidates will receive clinical supervision toward licensure.
  • Alaska State Chemical Dependency Counselor I (CDCI) or Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) certificate or equivalent.
  • Experience applying motivational interviewing techniques and delivering bio-psychosocial education and skill development.
