Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed cardiovascular surgery stepdown unit serving CV surgery, vascular surgery, and overflow medical cardiology patients
• Manage complex post-surgical patients including those recovering from open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR), thoracic procedures, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
• Perform and oversee epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management (including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, amiodarone, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine)
• Monitor and interpret telemetry for a patient assignment of up to 1:5 ratio
• Document accurately using Cerner EMR
• Float as needed to stepdown, medical-surgical, or ER inpatient holding units per facility guidelines

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in North Carolina (or compact eligibility)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Stepdown experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery patient population experience (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass) within the past year
• CVICU experience
