Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 44-bed General Surgery unit, managing 6–7 patients per shift depending on day or night assignment
• Monitor and interpret telemetry readings and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Manage a broad range of surgical procedures and post-operative care including urology, bowel resections, cholecystectomies, appendectomies, hysterectomies, mastectomies, thyroidectomies, hernia repairs, and related surgeries
• Administer and monitor TPN, PCA, heparin drips, IV antibiotics, tube feeds, and manage wound vacs, NG tubes, PEG tubes, dobhoffs, colostomies, urostomies, and various drains
• Collaborate effectively with charge nurses, unit secretaries, providers, and CNA team members to ensure safe and efficient patient care
• Float to other medical-surgical areas as needed and adhere to unit dress code and scheduling requirements including 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Demonstrated telemetry competency
• Experience with urology and bowel patient populations
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR and Baxter IV pumps

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in a high-acuity or fast-paced general surgery environment
• Familiarity with a wide range of surgical drain management and complex wound care
• Strong interpersonal communication skills with a positive, energetic, and team-oriented approach
