Registered Nurse Oncology

Job Title

• Registered Nurse (Oncology)

Schedule / Job Type

• Full-time, night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift, possibly 13-26 weeks contract

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to Medical-Surgical patients with oncology history
• Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, IV, PO, or injection treatments
• Monitor and manage inpatient patients, including wound care and drain management
• Collaborate with healthcare team to maintain safe and effective patient care
• Float to similar units or alternate care locations as needed
• Adhere to safety and infection control protocols, including isolation precautions

Required Qualifications

• Valid NC or Compact registered nurse license, in hand at start
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient RN experience
• Experience working in a Medical-Surgical/Oncology setting
• Certified in Oncology (OCN) or able to obtain
• Ability to administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and manage central lines, ports, PICC lines
• BLS certification
• Pass EKG testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• CPI certification
• Charge nurse experience
• Experience with blood product administration and emergency procedures

Additional Details

• Shifts scheduled for nights, with a requirement to work every other weekend
• Ability to participate in storm/hurricane response teams, with potential work during catastrophic events
• 24-hour unit orientation (2 shifts) and training modules prior to start
• Must be comfortable floating based on skill set and census fluctuations
• Covid and hospital safety protocols in place, adherence required
