Schedule / Job Type
Contract (13–26 week option) | Nights | 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30 | Every other weekend coverage required | Float to other units as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients including those with diagnoses such as CAD status post CABG, cardiac valve repair, lung cancer status post VATS, and esophageal cancer
- Monitor and manage patients on cardiac drips and insulin drips
- Care for post-surgical cardiovascular patients, applying demonstrated competency in EKG interpretation
- Administer and reconcile medications using Omnicell medication management system
- Document all patient care accurately and thoroughly within the EPIC electronic medical records system
- Float to other qualified units or campuses as directed based on census needs
Required Qualifications
- Active South Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent EPIC EMR experience
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; first-time travelers must have a minimum of 3 years of experience within the Cardiac Stepdown specialty
- Must pass a pre-assignment EKG exam prior to start
- Experience with cardiac drips and insulin drip management required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel nursing experience in a cardiac stepdown or progressive care setting
- Familiarity with post-surgical cardiovascular patient populations and related special procedures
