Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 40-bed cardiovascular surgery stepdown unit serving CV surgery, vascular surgery, and overflow medical cardiology patients
- Manage epidurals, chest tubes, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip infusions including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
- Monitor and interpret telemetry for patients with diagnoses including heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
- Utilize Cerner EMR and operate Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps
- Maintain a 1:5 patient ratio and collaborate with charge RNs, PCTs, and HUCs across day shift
- Float as needed to stepdown, medical-surgical, or ER inpatient holding units per facility guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Stepdown experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Ability to work a minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per 6-week schedule period and flexibility to work holidays
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience within the past year (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
- CVICU experience
