Registered Nurse – Oncology (Hematology/Oncology Med-Surg Unit)

Contract | Days or Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts | Day Shift: 7:00–19:30 | Night Shift: 19:00–7:30
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for individuals diagnosed with hematologic and oncologic conditions including lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute and chronic leukemias, sickle cell disease, and other hematology/oncology diagnoses
- Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin drips, and heparin drips in accordance with unit protocols
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias; utilize Rapid Response Teams as clinically indicated
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, and perform phlebotomy including central line blood draws
- Recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome and cytokine release syndrome
- Maintain strict infection prevention protocols and implement patient fall prevention measures; float to other Med/Surg and Oncology units as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license (compact or Ohio state license) required at time of submission
- Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Minimum of one year of Med/Surg experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Proficiency with telemetry monitoring, IV therapy, blood product administration, and feeding tube care and management
- Experience with computerized charting; EPIC proficiency required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Hematology/Oncology nursing experience strongly preferred
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification preferred
- Familiarity with oncologic emergency management including tumor lysis syndrome and cytokine release syndrome
