Registered Nurse – ICU Float Pool

Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12-hour shifts) | 36 or 48 hours per week available | Every other weekend and every other holiday required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Float to various ICU and intermediate care units including Medical ICU, Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU, Coronary Care Unit, Surgical Trauma ICU (Level 1), Neuro & Neurosurgery ICU, and a Critical Care and Intermediate Care Special Pathogens Unit
• Provide direct patient care in intermediate care settings including Thoracic Cardiovascular, Surgical Trauma, and Neuro & Neurosurgery Intermediate Units
• Care for ED boarders — patients admitted to the hospital who are temporarily boarding in the Emergency Department awaiting room assignment
• Adhere to facility float pool policies and float within scope of practice as needed across assigned units
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Epic electronic health records

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (pending license accepted; must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records system required
• Nursys verification required at time of submission
• Must meet all facility float pool policy requirements

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Prior experience floating across multiple ICU or intermediate care unit types
• Experience in high-acuity environments such as trauma, cardiovascular, or neurosurgical critical care
