Travel Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) | Night Shift

Contract | Travel | 13-Week Assignment | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required | Projected Start: August 10, 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 44-bed Progressive Care Unit with a patient ratio of 4:1 (up to 5:1 when stretched)
- Perform neurological and spinal assessments, including C-collar placement and TLSO brace management
- Manage chest tubes, PCA pumps, IV infusions, lumbar drains, and feeding tube placement
- Administer blood transfusions and monitor patient responses
- Operate unit equipment including IV pumps, Skylift, and patient lifts; document care using Cerner EMR
- Float to stepdown and med-surg units as needed; collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including CNCs, CNAs, and HUCs
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a Progressive Care, Stepdown, or IMC setting
- Neuro and trauma care experience required
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Dedicated neuro and trauma unit experience strongly preferred
- Experience with lumbar drain management and complex neurological patient populations
- Team-oriented, patient-focused approach to care delivery
