Contract | Days 6:45–19:15 | 3x12-hour shifts | 36 or 48 hours available | Every other weekend required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a post open heart recovery unit, including management of post-cardiac surgery patients arriving directly from the OR
• Care for patients undergoing thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR procedures
• Monitor and manage hemodynamic devices including IABP, Impella, ECMO, LVAD/RVAD, and Pulmonary Artery/Swan-Ganz lines
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, manage continuous IV sedation, and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Provide ventilator management and care for ventilated patients, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Float within or near the facility as required; adhere to self-scheduling practices and weekend rotation

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience; CVICU or open heart experience required
• Active RN license in NC or a Compact state (pending licensure accepted for submission)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency with arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with CRRT, ECMO, IABP, and ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD)
• Familiarity with EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR communication framework

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience accessing and managing ports and titrating vasoactive drips
• Proficiency with BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and advanced ventilator management
• Experience assisting with chest tube insertion and removal
