Contract | Travel | 13-Week Assignment | Full-Time | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Three 12-Hour Shifts per Week, Seven Days a Week Including Weekends | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients' mental health status by taking thorough patient histories, observing behavior, and utilizing diagnostic tools to identify psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems
• Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with mental health and behavioral health needs, including setting goals, applying interventions, and evaluating outcomes
• Administer psychiatric and psychotropic medications while monitoring for side effects and adverse reactions
• Provide crisis intervention support for patients experiencing suicidal ideation, aggression, or acute psychiatric episodes, utilizing de-escalation techniques and appropriate medication management
• Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects
• Utilize therapeutic communication techniques including active listening and empathy to build trust and rapport with patients across multiple psychiatric units including adolescent, adult, senior, and varying acuity populations

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing
• Active BLS certification
• Active CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification – required prior to submission
• Proficiency with electronic documentation systems (Meditech experience applicable)
• Ability to float to units based on greatest patient need

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working across multiple psychiatric unit types including adolescent, higher acuity adult (thought disorder diagnoses), lower acuity adult, and senior behavioral health populations
• Familiarity with AIDET communication framework and patient-centered care values
• Prior travel nursing experience in a behavioral health or psychiatric setting
