Registered Nurse – Oncology (Hematology/Oncology Unit)

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Hematology/Oncology Med/Surg unit for patients with diagnoses including lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute and chronic leukemias, sickle cell disease, and other hematologic and oncologic conditions
- Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin drips, and heparin drips in accordance with unit protocols
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias; utilize Rapid Response Teams as appropriate
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, and perform phlebotomy including central line blood draws
- Recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome and cytokine release syndrome
- Maintain strict infection prevention protocols and implement patient fall prevention measures; float to other Med/Surg and Oncology units as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- Minimum Med/Surg experience required
- Active BLS and ACLS certifications
- Proficiency with telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and line management (peripheral, central, PICC)
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Hematology/Oncology nursing experience strongly preferred
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification preferred
- Experience with feeding tube care and management
