Key Responsibilities
- Greet and prepare patients for CT scanning procedures, verifying patient identity, medical history, and physician orders to ensure appropriate imaging protocols are followed.
- Operate CT scanner equipment to acquire high-quality diagnostic images, adjusting scanning parameters such as slice thickness, exposure settings, and contrast administration to optimize image quality.
- Review and process CT images using techniques such as windowing, reconstruction, and multiplanar reformatting, and assist radiologists and physicians with image interpretation and documentation.
- Monitor patients during scanning procedures, observing for adverse reactions or complications and taking appropriate action as necessary.
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols and ALARA principles to minimize patient and staff exposure to ionizing radiation, and maintain accurate documentation of procedures and any adverse events.
- Perform daily equipment checks and quality control tests, and participate in quality assurance activities including image quality assessments and protocol optimization.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree from a JRCERT-accredited Radiology Program, or military training graduate of a JRCERT-accredited program as validated by active ARRT Certification.
- Current licensure through the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
- ARRT registered or registry eligible.
- Current BLS certification.
- Strong knowledge of CT imaging principles, techniques, equipment operation, and post-processing techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Two or more years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiology.
- Prior experience working as a CT Technologist in a hospital or medical imaging facility.
- Additional certification in Computed Tomography (CT) by the ARRT or other recognized certifying body.
